mason jar chandelier Christmas gift
I forgot to post this but I came home from my parents house on Christmas 2012 and the house was completely dark except this amazing jar chandelier that Al had made. Ever since we moved in I had been bugging him about wanting one. It turned out PERFECT!
It's blocked in this photo but the light switch for the chandelier is in the corner behind the latter.
Going through old photos o the place I found a couple shots of our holiday decor. Our tree topper is an old glamor shot of our good friend Jon. The tree fabric was given to me by my co-worker Kathleen, I safety pinned some lights to it.

Al started building out the final corner while I was in Switzerland here's what is looked like before I left:

So now there's a lofted area where my sewing machines and supplies will live along with his drum kit. Under the stairs is going to be a little work table and tool storage. We aren't sure about the right side wall maybe a bike stand, maybe bike storage and I still have that bench swing that I don't know if we will even end up having a spot for.

here's the view from up there

Al took apart some kerosene lanterns and made them electric
he put those tapered chandelier bulbs in to keep the flame aesthetic
the nob that was made to turn fresh wick into the lamp is now a switch to turn on the lamp, how cool!
